Rare antique American handled screw arm plow plane; used
Maker: William Ward, NYC, NY; circa1850-1868
A rare antique American handled screw arm plow plane by William Ward. Very good condition, all parts including iron are original. Plane appears to be made of boxwood with a very tight grain and interesting patina overall. There is a minor very tight crack on one of the nuts and on the nose of the plane. No bruising on wedge but the underside of the wedge is stained. Screw arms nuts turn freely and fully secure arms at desired setting. Plane is fully functional and can be used as originally intended (iron requires sharpening/honing). Makers mark imprint is visible on nose of the plane. Pollak “American Wooden Planes”, 4th edition rarity rating: 2 stars (rare).
