Antique British panel raising plane; used

Maker:  J. Gleave, Manchester, England; circa 1869-1913

An antique English panel raising plane.  Body is 15 ½” long with a 2 ½” iron.  Very good condition, all parts including iron and iron cap are original.  An original owner’s imprint is on the nose of the plane in addition to the maker’s mark.  Plane is made of beechwood; tote is mortised into the body of the plane.  There is an old chip on one corner of end of the tote.  A previous owner replaced the usual wood screws that fasten the fence to the base of the plane with inserts and machine screws.  Other than normal signs of wear and use, the plane is in very good condition with no cracks or chips to the wood other than the tote chip.  Plane is fully functional (iron requires sharpening/honing).  Makers mark imprint is visible on nose of the plane.
