Maker: Mathieson & Sons, Glasgow, circa late 1800s
An antique wood coffin plane by Mathieson & Sons. Made of quarter sawn beechwood with dovetailed boxwood depth adjuster at front of the plane. Plane is fully functional (iron and knicker require sharpening/honing before use). All parts/hardware are original. Overall very good condition with some slight bruising to the top of wedge and a stable hairline crack on the left rear portion of the wedge cheek (visible in one of the photos). Maker’s mark is visible on nose of plane.
