Rare antique American screw arm plow plane; used

Maker:  P.A. Gladwin, Wallingford, CT; circa 1859-1855

A rare antique American screw arm plow plane by P.A. Gladwin.  Overall, very good condition – some staining on the steel portion of the skate, expected wear on the inside of the fence and bruising to the wedge and minor chips to the screw arms.  All parts including iron are original.  Entire plane appears to be made of boxwood.  Screw arms nuts turn freely and fully secure arms at desired setting.  Plane is fully functional and can be used as originally intended (iron requires sharpening/honing).  Makers mark imprint is visible on nose of the plane.  Pollak “American Wooden Planes”, 4th edition rarity rating:  2 stars (rare).
