Maker: Young & McMaster, Auburn, NY; circa 1838-1843
A rare antique American wedge arm plow plane by McMaster & Young. Plane made of beechwood. Normal wear from use but overall in good condition, all parts including iron are original. The depth adjustment screw is tight but functional. Some staining on metal skate and corrosion on the head of one of the fixed bolts that secures the fence arms. The backside edge of the fence has a small chip out of the edge. Plane is fully functional and can be used as originally intended (iron requires sharpening/honing). Makers mark imprint is visible on nose of the plane. Pollak “American Wooden Planes”, 4th edition rarity rating: 2 stars (rare).
