Rare Vintage # 605 1/2 “early” Bedrock Stanley Plane, Used

Maker:  Stanley Rule & Level Co, New Britain, CT

A scarce “early” Bedrock series 14” heavy jack plane by Stanley.  Plane is a Type 4 produced from 1908-1910.  The “early” series of Bedrock planes is characterized by the rounded top of the sides of the plane body, a smaller front knob and the early type of frog used in these planes.  April 1995 patent cast into body behind rear tote.  Manufacturer’s trademark on iron consistent for Type 4/5 planes (1900-1910).  Lever cap is a three line Stanley, R.&L. CO., BED ROCK used with the Type 4/5 series. Frog and lever cap have “B” casting mark. This particular example reflects average wear from original use and staining on sides and sole.  Estimate that 70% of the original Japanning is intact.  Fully functional – iron needs sharpening/honing.
