Scarce # 603 C “early” Bedrock Stanley Plane, Used

Maker:  Stanley Rule & Level Co, New Britain, CT

A scarce “early” Bedrock series 8” smoother with corrugated sole by Stanley.  Plane is a Type 3 produced from 1900 -1908.  This “early” series of Bedrock planes is characterized by the rounded top of the sides of the plane body, a smaller front knob and the early type of frog used in these planes.  April 1995 and April 1910 patents cast into body behind frog.  Type 1-3 trademark on iron. Lever cap reads Stanley R&L CO. BED ROCK used with the Type 1-3 early Bedrock series.  This particular example reflects normal wear from original use and overall is in very good condition with estimated 80% of the original Japanning intact.  Fully functional – iron requires sharpening/honing.
