Scarce # 604 1/2 “early” Bedrock Stanley Plane, Used

Maker:  Stanley Rule & Level Co, New Britain, CT

A scarce “early” Bedrock series 24” jointer sole by Stanley.  Plane is a Type 4 produced from 1908 -1910.  This “early” series of Bedrock planes is characterized by the rounded top of the sides of the plane body, a smaller front knob and the early type of frog used in these planes.  April 1995 patent cast into body behind frog. Iron, lever cap, and lateral adjustment imprint are consistent with a Type 4 plane.  This particular example reflects normal wear from original use with some staining on the bare metal surfaces.  Overall in good condition with no cracks or chips in the metal body with estimated 60% of the original Japanning intact.  Fully functional – iron requires sharpening/honing.
