Scarce # 604C “later” Bedrock Stanley Plane, Used

Maker:  Stanley Rule & Level Co, New Britain, CT

A scarce “later” Bedrock series 9” smoother plane with corrugated sole by Stanley.  Plane is a Type 6 produced in 1912-1921.  This “later” series of Bedrock planes is characterized by the squared off top of the sides of the plane body, a taller front knob and a major innovation in the construction of the frog that is still utilized today by modern day makers of the original Bailey/Stanley type metal planes.  April 1995 and April 1910 patents cast into body behind frog.  Lever cap reads BED ROCK used with the Type 6 “later” Bedrock series.  Iron and chip breaker show additional staining/wear not consistent with main parts – may have been a replacement at some point.  Front knob and tote in excellent condition.  Overall this particular example reflects minimal wear from original use and overall is in excellent condition with about 90% of the original Japanning intact.  Fully functional – iron needs sharpening/honing.
