Scarce # 606 “later” Bedrock Stanley Plane, Used
Maker: Stanley Rule & Level Co, New Britain, CT
A scarce “later” Bedrock series 18” fore plane by Stanley. This “later” series of Bedrock planes is characterized by the squared off top of the sides of the plane body, a taller front knob and a major innovation in the construction of the frog that is still utilized today by modern day makers of the original Bailey/Stanley type metal planes. Plane is a Type 6A produced in 1921 with the larger 1 ¼” frog adjustment wheel. April 1995 and April 1910 patents cast into body behind frog. Lever cap reads BED ROCK used with the Type 6 “later” Bedrock series. This particular example reflects minimal wear from original use and overall is in excellent condition with about 90% + of the original Japanning intact. Fully functional – iron needs sharpening/honing.
