Maker: Stanley Rule & Level Co, New Britain, CT
A scarce “early” Bedrock series 24” jointer sole by Stanley. Plane is a Type 4 produced from 1908 -1910. This “early” series of Bedrock planes is characterized by the rounded top of the sides of the plane body, a smaller front knob and the early type of frog used in these planes. April 1995 patent cast into body behind tote. The iron appears to be a Type 6 iron according to the TM but all other parts including the lateral adjustment lever attached to the frog and the lever cap reflects a Type 4 plane. This particular example reflects normal wear from original use and overall is in good condition with no cracks or chips in the metal body with estimated 60% of the original Japanning intact. Fully functional – iron requires sharpening/honing.
