Scarce # 605 “later” Bedrock Stanley Plane, Used

Maker:  Stanley Rule & Level Co, New Britain, CT

A scarce “later” Bedrock series 14” jack plane by Stanley.  This “later” series of Bedrock planes is characterized by the squared off top of the sides of the plane body, a taller front knob and a major innovation in the construction of the frog that is still utilized today by modern day makers of the original Bailey/Stanley type metal planes.  Plane is a Type 6A produced in 1922 and has a portion of the original Stanley decal on the left side of the tote.  The adjusting wheel is larger: 1 ¼”.  April 1910 patent cast into body behind frog.  Iron and lever cap are Type 6.  A previous owner stamped the numbers 64 into the lower left side of the body.  This particular example reflects minimal wear from original use and overall is in excellent condition with better than 90% of the original Japanning intact.  Fully functional – iron needs sharpening/honing.
