Maker:  J, Hannan, NYC, NY; circa 1849-1857

A very rare antique screw arm plow plane by American plane maker J. Hannan.  Very good condition, all parts including iron are original.  Plane body is beechwood; arms and inner nuts are boxwood; outboard nuts are striking black ebony.  Some minor bruising on wedge.  Screw arms nuts turn freely and fully secure arms at desired setting.  Plane is fully functional and can be used as originally intended (iron requires sharpening/honing).  Makers mark imprint is visible on nose of the plane.  Pollak “American Wooden Planes”, 4th edition rarity rating:  3 stars (very rare).
